Attorney Opening on the Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners

 

An attorney position is open on the 9-member Minnesota State Board of Law Examiners. 

The all-volunteer Board is made up of 7 attorneys and 2 public members.  The Board is responsible for drafting, editing, and administering the Minnesota Bar Exam as well as overseeing the process by which applicants to the bar are screened for character and fitness. 

The members of the Board meet 12 times a year for meetings that range in length from 4 to 8 hours.  An additional 2 to 3 hours of preparation is required prior to meetings and hearings. 

Matters considered by the Board include reviewing policy and administrative issues, reviewing and selecting bar exam questions, conducting hearings for denied applicants with issues concerning lack of character or fitness for admission. 

The Board employs an Executive Director and a staff of 8.  Board members are reimbursed for costs of travel and lodging, if necessary.
