Tenth Judicial District Judge James Dehn Honored With Citizen Lawyer Award

Tenth Judicial District Judge James Dehn has been selected to receive the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) Civic Education Committee Citizen Lawyer Award.  The award will be presented at the Minnesota State Bar Association Assembly at noon on December 16.

The Citizen Lawyer Award is presented annually by the Civic Education Committee’s Policy Subcommittee in recognition of extraordinary contributions to promoting civic education and commitment to preserving constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

Judge Dehn was nominated by MSBA Mock Trail Program Manager, Emily Reilly, for his 23 years of coaching or judging high school mock trials at the state and national levels and for his years of serving on the MSBA mock trial board.

Judge Dehn has volunteered as a mock trial coach for Cambridge-Isanti High School from 1988 to 2009, as a Minnesota High School Mock Trial judge since 1990, and as a National High School Mock Trial judge since 1992.  He has served on the MSBA Mock Trial Advisory Board since 2006.

Judge Dehn was appointed to the bench in 1987.  He currently serves on the Isanti County District Court bench.
