Judicial Council Celebrates Addition to Becker County Courthouse

The Judicial Council, the policy-making body of the Minnesota Judicial Branch, held its regular monthly meeting at the newly expanded Becker County Courthouse in Detroit Lakes, Thursday, August 14.

During a luncheon ceremony the Council honored the Becker County Board of Commissioners for their efforts in developing and funding the addition, which includes three new courtrooms, a jury assembly room, and offices for court administration and the county attorney.

The Judicial Council, which is made up of the chief judges of the state's 10 judicial districts, as well as representatives of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Minnesota District Judges Association, and court administrators, is chaired by Chief Justice Eric J. Magnuson.

The Council meets periodically outside of its permanent home at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul as part of its Council in the Community outreach program. The Council held its June meeting in Duluth and has previously met in Brainerd and Pine City.
