Dakota County District Court seeks attorneys to provide Guardian Ad Litem services

The First Judicial District-Dakota County District Court, seeks to create a qualified pool of approximately 4 attorneys to establish a roster from which the Court can appoint attorneys to provide Guardian Ad Litem services to incompetent persons pursuant to Minnesota Rule of Civil Procedure 17.02.

These appointments occur infrequently but the need exists to have an available pool of attorneys with the interest and expertise in providing this service.

Qualification minimums include:  Five years or more in family law and/or civil matters, current malpractice insurance with a minimum of $200,000 per occurrence/claim, authorize the Court to check Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, pass a criminal background check and the ability to file documents electronically.  The contract rate is $75.00 per hour.
Compensation is paid by Dakota County or District Court unless the person is not In Forma Pauperis, then the parties will be responsible for the Guardian Ad Litem fees.  Court hearings are held at all three Dakota County Government Centers; Hastings, Apple Valley, and West St Paul.
