Minnesota Judicial Branch returns to the Great Minnesota Get-Together
The Minnesota Judicial Branch is heading back to the Great Minnesota Get-Together after a highly successful first year. In 2018, there were more than 40 judicial officers and 83 staff who volunteered their time to educate Minnesotans about their nation-leading court system.
“Our first year at the Fair was very successful. We visited with thousands of fair-goers, and we could barely keep the gavel pencils stocked,” said Chief Justice Lorie Gildea. “The Judicial Branch State Fair booth offers judges and staff a unique opportunity to interact with the public and break down barriers.”
Visitors in 2019 can find the booth in the back south-east corner of the Education Building, the same location as the 2018 booth. This year, visitors will be able to collect the coveted gavel pencil and a new purple hand fan. Judicial Branch Fair volunteers will be outfitted in matching purple shirts.
The booth will feature an improved version of the popular “You be the Judge” selfie station that will allow visitors of all ability and mobility to take a photo in a judicial robe with a real gavel. Visitors will also be able to indicate and learn about their home judicial district using an updated interactive component with a Minnesota Judicial District map.
