New Case Types and Case Types Index Announcement

Posted: Friday, August 18, 2017

Effective September 1, 2017 two new case types will be available to users in the eFile and eServe system.  The Reduced Mortgage Redemption case type results from amendments to the Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure.  Please review the Supreme Court order amending the Rules of Civil Procedure for more information.  The amendments also include a revised list of case type identifiers which are now available in the new Case Types Index published on eFile and eServe Resources page.

The Index lists case types for Civil, Family, Probate, and Commitment matters and replaces the previous appendix to the rules (Form 23).

The other new case type is Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).  The ART case type must only be used when the requested relief is to establish the parent-child relationship of a child conceived through assisted reproductive technology.

All filers are required to include the case type on all pleadings and are encouraged to reference the Case Types Index to select the appropriate case type.  Correct case type selection will reduce the need for court administration to request or make corrections, and will improve the accuracy of Judicial Branch data.
