Dakota County Court Appointed Counsel – Parent Representation in Child Protection Matters
Request for Qualifications
The First Judicial District-Dakota County District Court, in conjunction with Dakota County Administration, seeks to appoint an attorney to provide mandated legal defense services in representing indigent parents in Child Protection Matters and/or other legal matters involving potential loss of liberty and which legally require the appointment of counsel. This position will be on call as a substitute for the Court Appointed Counsel currently on the roster.
Qualification minimums include:
Five years or more in family law and child protection matters, current malpractice insurance with a minimum of $200,000 coverage per occurrence/claim, court authorization to confirm standing with Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board, and the ability to file documentation electronically. Incumbent must qualify and register on the State Qualified CHIPS Parent Attorney Roster. The current county contract rate is $75.00 per hour. Court hearings are held only at the Hastings Dakota County Government Center.
