Policy and Procedure Development

The Conference of Chief Judges (CCJ) of Judicial Council, which is made up of chief judges, assistant chief judges and administrators from the ten judicial districts, has policy authority for the GAL program.

The Program Workgroup reviews proposals from the GAL Managers group, and others, and approves bringing procedures and policies forward to the CCJ or Judicial Council for final review and approval. The Supreme Court issues the Rules of GAL Procedure and takes an active interest in ensuring high-quality child representation for abused children in Minnesota's trial courts.
