Family Violence Coordinating Council "FVCC"

Purpose

The Fourth Judicial District has established the Family Violence Coordinating Council (FVCC) for the purpose of addressing family violence issues.   The purpose of FVCC is to:

  • coordinate between agencies, departments and the courts on the issues of domestic violence and abuse;
  • promote effective prevention, intervention and treatment techniques; and
  • improve the response to domestic violence and abuse so as to reduce the incidents of domestic violence and promote victim safety.

Membership

The 35-member Council includes representatives from governmental and nongovernmental organizations. The Community Outreach Committee recommends candidates to the Executive Committee for approval.  Members are appointed by the chief judge of the Fourth Judicial District (Hennepin County). The 2013 co-chairs are Judge Fred Karasov and Referee Timothy Mulrooney.
