Assignment / Scheduling

Assignment Offices handle scheduling matters.  In the Second District, they are not a single division of the Court, but are mainly associated with the offices they serve.  The Criminal Assignment Division is composed of Criminal Assignment, Jury Services, and Interpreters.  Other Assignment offices are part of their respective divsions.

Criminal Assignment
Criminal Assignment handles Pre-trial Hearings, Court Trials, and Jury Trials. It also handles the scheduling of judges and the assignment of courtrooms. For Arraignments and First Appearances, contact the Criminal Division at 651-266-8180.

The Court Interpreters Office provides qualified court interpreters for defendants, litigants, and witnesses for a variety of court appearances. The interpreters assist the parties in communication and ensure equal access to the courts for non-English speakers.

Jury Office
Jury Services manages the scheduling of jury duty and the assignment of potential jurors to trial.

Civil Assignment
Civil cases assigned to a judge are managed by the Civil Assignment Office of the Civil Division. There are six judges assigned to major civil cases and two judges assigned to probate and civil commitment calendars.

Juvenile Assignment
Ramsey County Juvenile Court has jurisdiction over matters involving persons under 19 years of age who have been charged with a delinquent act, status or traffic violation. Juvenile Court also handles matters involving child protection, child protection-permanency, and adoptions.

Family Assignment
Family Court oversees court cases involving family matters such as dissolutions of marriage, parenting time schedules and disputes, child custody issues, child support establishment and modification, and paternity cases.
