Meeker County Courthouse History
325 North Sibley
Litchfield, MN 55355
Meeker County is located approximately 70 miles west of the Twin Cities on highway 12. The Court Administrator's office is located within the courthouse, which was built in 1974. The Courthouse is located across from Central Park in downtown Litchfield.
The Meeker County Court Administrator's office from it's origination in 1858 has provided many important services to the citizens of Meeker County. Cases involving Civil, Probate, Criminal, Traffic and Juvenile matters are processed here. Up until the fall of 1992, this office maintained birth and death records, Certificates of Clergymen's credentials, and Notary commissions. Applications and renewal of driver's licenses were also handled here. In 1992, the birth and death records were transferred to the treasurer's office along with the filing and maintenance of Clergymen's credentials and Notary commissions. At that time a licensing bureau was also created within the treasurer's office for renewal and issuance of driver's licenses, and for licensing of vehicles.
