The Fourth District Guardian ad Litem Program seeks a Contract Attorney

The Fourth District Guardian ad Litem Program (Hennepin County) is accepting applications for an attorney panel representing Guardians ad Litem appointed in Juvenile/Family Court in the Fourth District. Panel attorneys will provide legal consultation to and representation of, Guardians ad Litem and the Fourth District Guardian ad Litem Program, in the carrying out of the statutory duties of their roles 
 
Services can be provided via e-mail and telephone. Court appearances, when required, will take place in the courthouse in which the case is venued. 
 
Applicants will be screened for relevant court experience and knowledge of issues related to child protection and family court cases, including but not limited to, generational trauma, substance use, child abuse and neglect, permanency, domestic violence, high conflict parenting and adoption.
 

Education and Experience

  • Currently Licensed to practice law in Minnesota
  • Experience with Juvenile Protection Law
  • Experience with Family Court Law
  • Experience with the 4th Judicial District preferred
Compensation
Panel attorneys are independent contractors with a $20,000 contract for one year, July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022 with the possibility of extending the contract for three additional one year terms. The rate of pay shall be $40 per hour for travel. $65 per hour for training, including training preparation; and $75 per hour for representation. Contractors will submit monthly invoices for services rendered. Contractors shall only be paid for services rendered and timely invoiced and approved.
