2015 Amendments to CHIPS Rules

In 2010, the Minnesota Judicial Branch embarked on an historic step into the future with the decision to move state courts from a framework of paper files to an electronic information environment. In June 2014, the eCourtMN Steering Committee approved moving forward with mandatory e-filing and e-service for all case types within the pilot counties by July 2015, and in all other counties by July 2016.

In order to implement mandatory e-filing and e-service, amendments to Minnesota’s court rules were necessary. The Supreme Court charged each of the rules committees with the task of recommending proposed amendments that would accommodate the transition to an electronic environment.
