Associate Justice Paul H. Anderson to Retire from Minnesota Supreme Court

Minnesota Supreme Court Associate Justice Paul H. Anderson has informed Governor Mark Dayton of his pending retirement in May 2013 when he reaches age 70, the age of mandatory retirement for Minnesota judges. Justice Anderson was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1994 by Governor Arne Carlson. Prior to serving on the Supreme Court, he served as chief judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals and worked in private practice.

Governor Dayton has asked his Commission on Judicial Selection to aid in the review and selection process for this vacancy. The At-Large members of the Commission will consider applications and offer recommendations to Governor Dayton. The Commission and Governor Dayton are committed to seeking out individuals who possess great integrity, extensive legal knowledge, broad experience, and a commitment to fairness.
