Washington County District Court seeks a court appointed attorney for child protection and permanency cases

Washington County District Court, Tenth Judicial District, State of Minnesota, has an immediate opening for court appointed attorneys as follows:
The court appointed attorney will provide legal representation for parents in child in need of protection or services and permanency cases, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 260C. The attorney is an advocate for the client's interests and informs the client about the child protection and permanency process and the law. The attorney must be able to: (1) analyze and advise the court on difficult, varied, important and complex legal issues; (2) confer with the judges, other attorneys, Guardians ad litem, tribal representatives, and anyone else involved in the matter; (3) conduct legal research; (4) prepare legal memoranda; and (5) draft proposed orders. The attorney must be able to both collaborate with system participants and advocate for their client.

The caseload is approximately thirty percent (30%) of child protection and permanency 141 average cases filed annually.

The contract amount for the above cases is $8,362.50 monthly for calendar year 2022 and $8,550.00 monthly for calendar year 2023.

A screening process will include review of resumes and applicable child protection legal work. An interview may be conducted.
