Notre Dame Law School, J.D., cum laude, 1993; University of Minnesota, B.A., 1983

Judge, 6th Judicial District, 2006-present; assistant St. Louis County attorney, 1996-2006; assistant Hennepin County attorney, 1996; prosecutor, U.S. Marine Corps, 1993-95

Community Activities:

Assistant scoutmaster, 2006–present; Assistant soccer coach, 2005-2010; Little League baseball coach, 2002-2010; Junior basketball coach, 2002-2004; Marine Corps Reserve Officers Association; Marine Corps Association; volunteer, Marine Corps “Toys For Tots” drives; former literacy volunteer for Franklin-Sherman Elementary School in McLean, Va.

Military Service:

Active duty, U.S. Marine Corps, 1983-1995; Reserves, 1995-2010. Activated after 9/11/01. Served from 1/2/02 to 8/30/05 on active duty in support of war efforts. Afghanistan from January 2005 to June 2005.  Military awards include the Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals, a Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a Afghanistan Service Medal, and an Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Retired from the Marine Corps on September 1, 2010, as a Colonel, after 27 years of service.
