Gretchen D. Thilmony Appointed to Fill Seventh Judicial District Vacancy

Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Gretchen D. Thilmony as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. Ms. Thilmony is replacing the Honorable Joseph A. Evans, and will be chambered at Detroit Lakes in Becker County.
 
“Ms. Gretchen Thilmony has dedicated her career to bringing justice for Minnesotans, as an attorney at the county and federal levels, and in private practice,” said Governor Dayton. “The noble work Ms. Thilmony has done in the community has prepared her well for her new role as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.”
 
Ms. Thilmony is the Becker County Attorney, where she prosecutes felony, gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor offenses. She is also a Special Assistant United States Attorney and previously was an Assistant Becker County Attorney and an attorney at Sinclair, Evans, Hunt, Heisler, & Fritz, P.A. Ms. Thilmony earned her B.A. from the University of North Dakota and her J.D. from the University of North Dakota Law School. 
 
Ms. Thilmony serves on the Anishinabe Sexual Assault Response Team, the Public Safety Committee for the White Earth Nation and Becker, Clearwater, and Mahnomen Counties, and the Board of Trustees for the Becker County Law Library.
 
Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District consists of Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd, and Wadena Counties.
