Chief Justice Gildea Welcomes Judge Moore to Supreme Court

Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie S. Gildea has issued the following statement regarding Governor Tim Walz’s appointment of The Honorable Gordon Moore to serve as a justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court.

“I am very grateful to Governor Walz for his continued support of the Minnesota Judicial Branch. This is an excellent appointment. The judiciary depends on the energy, wisdom, and dedication of the individuals who work in it. Judge Moore brings a passion for the law and has demonstrated a deep commitment to the judiciary and to serving the public.

Judge Moore has been a valued member of the Nobles County District Court bench since 2012. His career as a lawyer, prosecutor, and district court judge have given him a breadth of experience that will contribute significantly to his work as an associate justice on our state’s highest Court. I am confident that Judge Moore will continue to uphold the rule of law and serve the citizens of Minnesota well in this new role.

In 2014, the Minnesota Supreme Court traveled to Nobles County as part of the Traveling Oral Arguments program. We were warmly welcomed to the Worthington area by Judge Moore. On behalf of my colleagues, it is now my pleasure to welcome Justice Designee Gordon Moore to the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Finally, it is proper to pay tribute to our outgoing justice: David Lillehaug, who will leave the Court at the end of July. Justice Lillehaug has been a wonderful colleague who has greatly enriched our decision-making. He has left a lasting legacy on the justice system in Minnesota.  We thank him for his service to the Court and to the people of the State of Minnesota.”
