Understanding the eFile/eServe Status column

Mandatory means that the district court was one of the 11 eCourtMN pilot counties. Use of the eFiling and eService system is mandatory for attorneys, government agencies, Guardians ad Litem, and sheriffs in any case filed in these counties (See Minn. Gen. R. Prac. 14.01 for more information). 

Voluntary means that use of the eFiling and eService is available for cases filed in this district court. Use of the eFile and eService will remain voluntary for cases filed in these district courts until July 1, 2016. Effective July 1, 2016, use of the eFile and eServe system by attorneys, government agencies, Guardians ad Litem, and sheriffs will become mandatory in all district court cases statewide.
