Bridgid E. Dowdal Appointed to Fill Tenth Judicial District Vacancy


Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Bridgid E. Dowdal as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. Ms. Dowdal is replacing Judge Alan F. Pendleton, and will be chambered at Center City in Chisago County.
 
“Throughout her career, Bridgid Dowdal has shown an exemplary commitment to public service,” said Governor Dayton. “Ms. Dowdal’s efforts to serve her community, and improve the lives of Minnesotans, have made our state better. I am confident she will be an excellent judge.”
 
Ms. Dowdal is the Chief Legal Counsel for the Minnesota Department of Human Services Office of the Inspector General. She is responsible for providing legal analysis and research on healthcare matters including licensing, childcare, and cash programs. Previously, she was the Assistant Dean for Career and Professional Development at the William Mitchell College of Law, an Assistant United States Attorney, and a judicial law clerk to Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Sandra S. Gardebring. She earned her B.S. from Boston University, LL.M. from the University of Scotland, Aberdeen, and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
 
Ms. Dowdal volunteers at the East Side Learning Center and for the St. Croix River Valley Riders. She is also an active member of Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
 
Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District consists of Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright Counties.
