Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Catherine (Kate) McPherson as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. Ms. McPherson will be replacing the Honorable Dale E. Mossey, who retired earlier this year.

About the appointment, Governor Dayton said, “Ms. McPherson will make an excellent judge; she brings a high level of professionalism and diverse legal experience to the bench, as well as a strong commitment to community service.”

Ms. McPherson is currently an Assistant County Attorney and Head of Operations for the Anoka County Attorney’s Office. She previously worked as an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney and an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law.  Ms. McPherson has worked in a number of areas of law including juvenile, criminal, and civil.  She received a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in 1985; M.S.W. from the University of Minnesota in 1990; and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1994.

Additionally, Ms. McPherson is a current Ethics Investigator and Past President for the 21st District Bar Association. She has been an active member of her community, including volunteering as a mediator for Mediation Services of Anoka County and serving on its Board of Directors.  She is also active in her church and volunteers in the Anoka Hennepin School District.

Ms. McPherson resides with her family in Ramsey. Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District covers Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington and Wright counties.
