Crop Art, Cookies, and Courts: MJB booth a success at the State Fair

Amid buckets of cookies and cones of cheese curds, the Minnesota Judicial Branch booth shined brightly at the 2025 State Fair.

110 staff and judges handed out 20,000 gavel pencils, 3,500 lip balms, and 300 tote bags to eager State Fair attendees.

This year’s booth introduced trivia about the Branch: in order to receive a giveaway, visitors had to answer a trivia question. Written by State Law Library staff, the questions ran the gamut from court history to Minnesota Law to current Supreme Court justices. The questions were such a hit that some visitors asked to answer several.

Also new this year was a STQRY tour of the Minnesota Judicial Branch. Promoted via the Branch’s Instagram channel, the STQRY tour offered deep civic education in a fun and interactive environment. People who completed the STQRY tour received an #IWorkForJustice canvas bag by presenting their completion screen to MJB booth staff. When State Fair crowds caused cell phone connectivity to lag, making it difficult for visitors to do the STQRY tour, booth staff encouraged people to instead answer 6-10 trivia questions to win a bag.

Many thanks to everyone who visited the MJB State Fair booth!
