Dakota County Judge Timothy Blakely Serves in Joint Military Exercise

EAGAN, MN (May 17, 2002) – Dakota County Judge Timothy Blakely is a Minnesotan with a mission.  Along with serving the seven-county First Judicial District as a trial court judge, Blakely serves as a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve.  Recently, Blakely was called upon to serve in Alaska, during Northern Edge 2002.

Northern Edge 2002 was Alaska’s premier joint training exercise designed to practice operations, techniques and procedures while enhancing interoperability among the services in a cold weather environment.

More than 7,500 airmen, soldiers, sailors, Marines and coastguard personnel from active duty, reserve and National Guard units recently participated in this $7 million exercise.  Although the exercise was not practice for any specific real-world operation, Alaska’s expansive ground/aerial training network and extensive coastline provide an excellent environment for conducting combined training with Canadian forces.

Judge Blakely was one of more than 1,000 personnel who served during the exercise.

“The support of my family and the willingness of court staff to accommodate the Northern Edge mission has been wonderful,” Judge Blakely said.
