The Minnesota Supreme Court invites qualified attorneys to serve on its Advisory Committee for the General Rules of Practice for the District Courts. The General Rules of Practice apply to all trial courts, and they include rules specific to civil , land title, family, probate, conciliation, and housing court proceedings. As a committee member you will help review, monitor, and recommend updates to the rules that guide all district‑court proceedings, ensuring they remain fair, efficient, and responsive to the needs of Minnesotans.
What the Committee Does:
- Considers petitions for rule changes
- Examines current rules for clarity, consistency, and modern relevance
- Drafts recommendations for rule amendments or new rules
Committee Commitment:
- Meetings are usually held remotely. Length and frequency of meetings may vary depending upon the committee charge and rules being considered by the Committee.
- Current vacancies are for two-year terms starting January 1, 2027.
- Members are eligible to be reappointed to a second term.
