Judge Ivy S. Bernhardson Elected Chief Judge in Fourth Judicial District in Hennepin County


Today, the judges serving Hennepin County elected Judge Ivy S. Bernhardson as the new Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial District.

Judge Bernhardson will replace the Honorable Peter A. Cahill, whose second term as Chief Judge ends on June 30, 2016.

Judge Bernhardson said, “It is an honor to be elected to serve my colleagues as Chief Judge. I look forward to working with all of them, our new Assistant Chief Judge Todd Barnette, our justice partners, and the community.”

Judge Bernhardson’s term as Chief Judge will take effect on July 1, 2016. She was appointed to Hennepin County District Court by Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2007. Prior to today’s election, she served as the Assistant Chief Judge of the District for four years.
