Justice James Gilbert Officially Resigns


ST. PAUL, MN (Aug. 10, 2004) – Supreme Court Associate Justice James H. Gilbert ended his tenure on the Court at the end of business day yesterday.  His office delivered his letters of resignation to Governor Tim Pawlenty and Supreme Court Chief Justice Kathleen A. Blatz this morning.

Justice Gilbert, 57, took his oath of office on January 29, 1998 and was elected in November 2000 to serve a six-year term.  He is leaving the Court to start a new law firm in Minnetonka.  The James H. Gilbert Law Group will focus on real estate, corporate and employment law.
