Kathy M. Wallace Appointed to Fill Third Judicial District Vacancy

Governor Mark Dayton has announced the appointment of Ms. Kathy M. Wallace as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Third Judicial District. Ms. Wallace will be replacing the Honorable Joseph F. Wieners, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at Rochester in Olmsted County.

“I am pleased to appoint Ms. Kathy Wallace to serve the Third Judicial District as District Court Judge,” said Governor Dayton. “Ms. Wallace’s extensive experience in complex legal matters, her knowledge of the courts, and her exemplary work on behalf of children and families, make her uniquely qualified to take on the responsibilities of this important role.”

Ms. Wallace is a Team Lead Attorney with the Criminal Division of the Olmsted County Attorney’s Office, where she supervises a team of attorneys and represents Olmsted County in complex legal matters. Previously, she served as an Assistant County Attorney in Olmsted and Mower Counties, where she practiced primarily in adult criminal prosecution and juvenile delinquency. Ms. Wallace earned her B.A. with honors from Hamline University and her J.D. with honors from the William Mitchell College of Law.

Additionally, Ms. Wallace is the co-chair of the Mayo Child and Family Advocacy Center Program Operations Committee and a Whitewater Country Coalition member. Ms. Wallace resides with her family in Chatfield, MN.

Minnesota’s Third Judicial District consists of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca, and Winona Counties.
