Minnesota District Judges Association Elects Officers

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Sept. 29, 1999) -- Today the Minnesota District Judges Association (MDJA) announced the results of the recent election of officers.  The election was held earlier this month at the MDJA’s annual conference.

Ramsey County District Court Judge Kathleen Gearin was elected the president; Judge Thomas Stringer, of Otter Tail County, was elected the president-elect; and Rock County District Court Judge Timothy Connell was elected the vice-president.  Wright County District Court Judge Bruce Douglas now becomes the past president.

Judge Gearin was elected to the Ramsey County bench in 1986.  Gearin is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars and judicial education seminars on sexual assault, child abuse, civil post-trial motions, trial skills, ethics and sentencing.

The MDJA is an association of Minnesota trial judges which represents the interests of the judges and the judiciary before the legislature.  The MDJA also sponsors an annual educational conference and prepares several publications, including the jury instruction guides.
