ST. PAUL, MN (April 28, 2004) – The Minnesota Supreme Court will hold a hearing for public comment on the Report of the Supreme Court Advisory Committee to Review the Minnesota Code of Judicial Conduct and the Rules of the Board on Judicial Standards. The committee has proposed amending Canons 3 and 5 of the Code of Judicial Conduct. A copy of the entire report can be found at www.courts.state.mn.us/cio/public_notices.htm.
The public hearing will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 in Courtroom 300 of the Minnesota Judicial Center, 25 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in St. Paul.
All persons, including members of the bench and bar, desiring to present written statements concerning the committee’s report, but who do not wish to make an oral presentation at the hearing, must submit 12 copies of their written comments to Frederick Grittner, Clerk of the Appellate Courts, 305 Judicial Center, 25 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, St. Paul, Minnesota 55155, on or before Wednesday, May 19, 2004.
All persons desiring to make an oral presentation at the hearing must file 12 copies of their material to be presented with the Clerk of the Appellate Courts, together with 12 copies of a request to make an oral presentation. Such statements and requests shall be filed on or before May 19, 2004.
In order to include the broadest public input into its process, the committee is circulating its report, and the Supreme Court is holding a public hearing to invite comment.
