MN Supreme Court to Hold Hearing at Eastview High School

Justices Will Hear Arguments in Actual Case to Educate Students About Judicial Branch
The Minnesota Supreme Court has announced that it will hear oral arguments at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. More than 600 students will pack the school auditorium to watch oral arguments.
The visit is part of a biannual program that seeks to teach students about the work of the state’s highest court while building the public’s trust and confidence in the Judicial Branch.
The justices will hear oral arguments of an actual case, State of Minnesota, Respondent vs. Christian Chi Ndikum, Appellant (A10-1728). Following oral arguments, the justices will answer students’ questions, eat lunch with student leaders and visit classrooms at Eastview High School.
Since the Supreme Court convened oral arguments in Rochester, MN, in 1995, the school visits have taken center stage in the Court’s efforts to improve public understanding of the judiciary’s work. The Eastview High School visit marks the 35th in-school oral argument for the Court.
“We are proud to host the Supreme Court,” said Eastview High School Principal Dr. Randall Peterson. “This is a significant and meaningful event for our students and staff, and we are looking forward to seeing the Supreme Court in action.”
