Shawn M. Bartsh Appointed to Fill Second Judicial District Vacancy


Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Ms. Shawn M. Bartsh as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. Ms. Bartsh will be replacing The Honorable Marybeth Dorn, who has retired. The judgeship will be chambered at Saint Paul in Ramsey County.

“Ms. Bartsh is an outstanding public servant who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the success of her community,” said Governor Dayton. “Her extensive experience and expertise in the law have prepared her to serve the Second Judicial District with distinction. I am confident she will make an excellent judge.”

Ms. Bartsh has her own firm in Saint Paul where she handles civil matters on behalf of clients and serves as an arbitrator and mediator in contested matters and as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. She is also a conciliation court referee for Ramsey County. Ms. Bartsh is a frequent lecturer and a former adjunct professor with the William Mitchell College of Law. She received her B.A. from Luther College and her J.D. with the William Mitchell College of Law.

Additionally, Ms. Bartsh was the President of the Ramsey County Bar Association. She is active in her community, having served as the President of the Highland Business Association and the Highland District Council, as well as serving on the Ford Site Planning Task Force. She volunteers for many charities and compiled the Saint Paul Charities Guide.
