Questions and Answers
1. How many years of QA experience are required for this role?
We are seeking candidates with 9+ years of hands-on QA experience. This includes, experience operating independently, making risk-based testing decisions, and supporting multiple complex applications simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-changing environment driven by shifting priorities and external requirements, without requiring close day-to-day oversight.
2. Is the Senior QA expected to work hands-on, or is the role primarily focused on providing guidance and support?
This is a fully hands-on role. The Senior QA is expected to actively perform exploratory testing, create and execute test cases, contribute to automation, and support regression testing, while also providing guidance to less experienced testers. This is not a supervisory role, it is an experienced, hands-on contributor role focused on execution and decision making.
3. What are the biggest gaps or risks you are seeing today?
Key risks include varying QA skill levels across the team, inconsistent application of QA methodology, and the need from stronger hands-on expertise in areas such as accessibility, regression strategy, and automation. There is a need for an additional senior level execution support to help improve consistency, coverage, and decision making across applications that can step in and immediately contribute without extensive ramp up.
4. What prompted the need for this role- were there recent defects, production issues, missed releases, or growth in scope that exposed QA maturity gaps?
This role exists to provide independent, senior level QA execution across multiple complex applications with overlapping demands. It requires the ability to manage change, make risk based testing decisions, and support regression and revision effort without reliance on close supervision.
5. Which applications, projects, or upcoming releases are the highest priority for QA support, and are there any known high-risk areas that require deeper testing?
QA support spans across a number of enterprise applications rather than one single project, release or platform. The role requires supporting concurrent testing efforts
across established systems and evolving applications, with priorities determined by overall demand and a focus on maintaining consistent QA standards across all work.
6. What test management, defect tracking, or automation tools are currently used, and how much flexibility will this person have to improve or standardize tooling and processes?
Test management and defect tracking are currently handled using more than one system, as the team works to transition QA artifacts into Azure DevOps. Automaton tools are being introduced and expanded to support regression testing, but automation maturity is still evolving. The Senior QA is expected to work effectively across all tools during this transition, applying consistent QA practices regardless of platform, and contribute hands-on expertise to strengthening regression and automation efforts over time.
7. Which automation tools should the Senior QA have hands-on experience with to effectively guide the team?
Hands-on automation experience is required. Candidates should have experience with modern UI and/or automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium based tools, Cypress, Katalon, Playwright or similar). The expectations is that the Senior QA can actively contribute to automation efforts, support requestion needs, and guide automation decisions, not just review scripts.
8. What level of knowledge and experience is required regarding WCAG compliance?
Hands-on experience with WCAG compliance is required. Candidate must have direct experience executing accessibility testing, identifying WCAG violations, and validating remediation efforts. This role requires practical application of accessibility standards, not just familiarity or theoretical knowledge.
9. The SOW states "this position is primarily remote". Can you confirm how many days a week/month the resource will be required on site?
