Supreme Court Issues Standing Order Regarding Paper Copies of Briefs

Effective July 1, 2014, in all appeals pending on or commenced after that date, all parties filing briefs with the Supreme Court shall file five paper copies of those briefs. Two copies shall be unbound. All five paper copies shall be filed with the Clerk of Appellate Courts in the form required by Minn. R. Civ. App. P. 132, and filing shall be accomplished at the same time that the party’s brief is served, pursuant to Minn. R. Civ. App. P. 131.03, subd. 2, or, if a brief is filed electronically, within three business days of that filing. If more than five paper copies of the brief are received after July 1, 2014, extra copies will not be retained by the Clerk of Appellate Courts and will not be returned to the filing party.
