Supreme Court Launches New Judicial Branch Website

ST. PAUL, MN (May 15, 2000) – Today the Minnesota Supreme Court launched a new website for the judiciary.  The State Court System’s home page, http://www.courts.state.mn.us/, has been re-designed to provide more useful information about the judicial branch and easier access for users.  The new page will feature appellate court calendars, opinions, photos, bios and links to judicial district information.

The site will continue to change after its launch.  The Court Information Office intends to add information and resources about the court system’s pilot projects and initiatives, along with documents that students, teachers and reporters will find helpful.  Statistics and court-related reports will also be posted in the future.

The new site features items that web visitors have found useful in the past, like appellate court opinions, public notices and recent press releases.  However, this information is presented in a more user-friendly format through use of a convenient “drop-down” menu bar.

In addition, new features have been added, including:

  • Photographs and biographies of Supreme Court Justices and Court of Appeals Judges
  • A glossary of legal terms
  • Information about and links to pages for all 10 Minnesota Judicial Districts
  • Upcoming oral argument calendars for both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals
  • A calendar of upcoming judicial branch events
  • A link to major speeches given by Justices and Judges
  • Information on Alternative Dispute Resolution and the statewide Court Interpreter Program
