The District Court Record Retention Schedule (Retention Schedule) does the following:
- Sets minimum time periods for keeping court records. Destruction and/or transfer to State Archives are not mandated by the Retention Schedule.
- Allows the destruction or transfer of records to State Archives after records are no longer needed at the court.
- Permits the destruction or transfer of records to State Archives without the need to make a special request.
- The Retention Schedule does not create a right for parties to have their court records destroyed. If there are court records that you do not want to be accessible to the public, you may choose to consider a request for expungement.
