State vs. Mohamed Noor


The case was appealed to the MN Court of Appeals on July 16, 2019, and the MN Supreme Court on February 25, 2021. The case number for the appellate courts is A19-1089, and the case can be accessed in the Minnesota Appellate Courts Case Management System. On September 15, 2021, the Supreme Court remanded the case to the district court to vacate Noor’s conviction for depraved-mind murder and sentence him on his conviction of second-degree manslaughter. That sentencing occured on October 21, 2021.

The original sentencing in this case was held on Friday, June 7, 2019.

The trial in this case began on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Hennepin County Government Center. Initial instructions to the jury panel and jury questionnaires took place on April 1. 75 jurors were drawn on April 1. No identifying juror information will be released per an order for confidential jury. A jury panel of 12 jurors and 4 alternates was seated on April 8. The jury returned a verdict in this case on Tuesday, April 30, 2019.
