Criminal Expungement

Expungement is the process of sealing court records so that they are not available to the public. Petitioning the court for expungement is the process for asking a judicial officer to seal a court record. Expungement does not destroy a record. Under Minnesota law, some types of expungement do not require a petition.

See also Laws, Rules & Legal Research.If you were arrested but not charged with a crime, there will not be a court record for that event. Law enforcement agencies and the BCA, however, may have records of the arrest. There is a non-court process for sealing arrest records. See Expunge Arrest Records for more details.
