Parking

Public parking is available in the front of the courthouse on East Maple Avenue or any side streets to the Kanabec County Government Center. The public entrance is off of East Maple Avenue.

Security Screening

Please do NOT bring any item that could be used as a weapon to any courthouse. Those items will not be allowed in areas beyond screening checkpoints, and illegal weapons will be confiscated. There may be a line at a security checkpoint, so please allow yourself enough time to get to the courthouse.

Reporting Instructions

First Day: Kanabec County utilizes a phone in system to inform jurors when to report for service. Prospective jurors are assigned a group number found on the summons and are instructed to call the Jury Phone-In System at (320) 679-6410 after 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before their term begins to find out if they need to report for trial. Instructions on the jury line will indicate further details for reporting in.

Second and Subsequent Days: The jury term is one month in Kanabec County. We utilize the phone in system for subsequent days’ notification. The jurors are required to call in each day until the message tells them their service is complete.

Personal Items and Your Phone

  • Cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices are not allowed in the courtroom.  It is recommended that these items are left home or in a secured vehicle.  If these items are brought into the courthouse, you will be asked to turn them off.  A public phone is available if needed and jurors can be notified of emergencies via Court Administration at (320) 679-6400, selecting the jury duty option.
  • Magazines and other reading material are allowed
  • A refrigerator is available in the Jury Assembly room for seated jurors who wish to bring lunch or snacks.
  • Food, gum, and hats are not allowed inside the courtroom.
  • Outerwear coats, hats, and large bags must be left in the Jury Assembly Room for seated jurors.
  • It is recommended that jurors dress in layers as temperatures may vary.  Casual dress is acceptable.
  • Please keep in mind that there are security measures similar to airport screening. Do not bring sharp objects such as scissors, corkscrews or knitting needles as they may be confiscated.
