Mission
The Mission of the Wright County Adult Drug Court is to enhance the cost-effectiveness of the county criminal justice system by providing intensive case management, treatment, and court supervision for individuals arrested for drug related offenses. By holding participants accountable for their actions and providing them with access to a diverse range of needed services, participants will be equipped with the necessary tools to lead productive, drug-free and crime-free lives.
What is Drug Court?
Drug Court is a specialty court given responsibility to handle cases involving substance-abusing offenders through comprehensive supervision, drug testing, treatment services, and immediate sanctions and incentives.
- This is a voluntary program.
- The program lasts a minimum of 20 months and a maximum of 30 months.
- The program consists of 6 phases.
- An offender is held accountable by the Drug Court Judge for meeting their obligations to the court, society, themselves, and their families.
- Successful completion results in a non-prison disposition, no jail, shorter probation or reduction to a misdemeanor.
The Wright County Adult Drug Court Team is a collaborative effort with all criminal justice stakeholders: Judge, Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, Probation Officer, Treatment Provider, Law Enforcement, Social Services, and Coordinator.
Who is Eligible?- A person must be at least 18 years old.
- A Wright County Resident.
- Identified as high risk to reoffend and addicted to controlled substances.
- Charged with a non-Violent, Gross Misdemeanor, or Felony Offenses.
What is the Primary Goal?
With the goal of saving lives, saving money, and reducing crime in the community, Wright County Adult Drug Court’s goals include:
- Breaking the cycle of addiction.
- Reducing re-incarcerations.
- Producing tax-paying, productive citizens.
It is the policy of the Wright County Drug Court that no person will be discriminated against on the basis of: race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, disability, sexual orientation, or age.
